Philippa Jeffery was born in Oxford in 1973. She became a single mother at the tender age of 18 and took her son with her to Art College. Her work has often been concerned with the domestic, the feminine, the unconscious and the overlooked. Her practice spans the disciplines of dreaming, writing, drawing, print making, felt making, mask making and performance. Since 2009 she has been working on her “Sheepwoman” project, performing on the streets, in galleries and festivals at home and abroad. Her performance work lies somewhere between theatre and performance art; often spontaneous, interventionist, participatory, and improvised. Recent performances have been seen during the Month of Performance Art Berlin, at Suicide Circus, Berlin, The Alchemistic Cabaret, Berlin, Club Lido, Berlin, Passing Clouds, London and Immaginni D’ell Interno International Puppetry Festival in Pinerolo Italy.
